Heinkel He111P-2, 5/KG4, Fornebu, Norway, April 1940.

On April 26th 1940 this aircraft was shot down by a combination of flak from HMS MAnchester and two flights of Blackburn Skuas of 801 Squadron based on HMS Ark Royal. The aircraft made a good forced landing in the Norweigian mountains, though the gondola gunner, Willi Stock, died of wounds recieved during the Skua's attack. The surviving crew, Ofw. Guenther Hoelscher (Observer) Richard Gumbrecht (pilot) and Karl Stolz (wireless operator/air gunner) attempted to walk to friendly territory but after a few days, lost and frostbitten, were captured by British troops to spend the rest of the war in a Canadian prisoner of war camp.

In 1976 the wreck was recovered and following many years of restoration is now on display at the Noweigian Air Force Museum at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, Norway.

Modified 3DZ:

* Non-mirrored
* Texture warp on right-hand side of rear fuselage eliminated
* Panel for Geshwader, Gruppe or Staffel badge for side of cockpit added, replaces warped (and much smaller) panel
* New middle distance and long distance models to match the changes.

Modified Tex. file

Based as usual on Mikko "Migge" Kossenen's KG53 He111. Shading on lower rear fuselage sides lightened (now you can read all the codes, not just the top halves), fuselage and upper wing Balkankreuz replaced.

Thanks to: Captain Kurt, whose He111B showed me a) that it could be done, and b) how to do it - thanks Kurt, once again I am in your debt.
	   Alessandro Borges, for 3DZ studio, without which none of this would be possible.
